Bike Bangkok’s Hidden Oasis
- Duration: 4 Hours (approx.)
- Location: บางนา , Krung Thep Maha Nakhon

Bang Krachao is a green oasis sitting in the middle of Bangkok’s concrete jungle. Located on a giant oxbow in the Chao Phraya River, Bang Krachao is shaped like a giant green lung. This where it gets the nickname of Bangkok’s Green Lung. Strict zoning and geography have protected its mangrove forests, coconut plantations and gardens from the urban sprawl of Bangkok making it into Bangkok’s Hidden Oasis. There is nothing like looking through the tangles of tree branches to see the Bangkok Skyscrapers in the distance.
Starting from the Bearing Skytrain station you and your biking guide will pedal your way through back lanes and alleys to the ferry. Once you and your bicycle are across the Chao Phraya River in Bang Krachao the real biking pleasure begins.
Cycling at a leisurely pace ride quiet pathways where all you may meet are birds, a few squirrels and maybe a lizard or two. Along the way stop to visit a family at an old betel nut plantation for a snack and refreshing herbal drink while observing the ship and barge traffic on the Chao Phraya River. Back on the bike the next goal is to visit a mangrove conservation area where you can catch a glimpse what Bang Krachao was once like in its natural state. Pedalling on through a maze of tree lined biking paths, the next stop is a shrine for the Hindu God Ganesh, the god of beginnings and the remover of obstacles. The final stop on the Bang Krachao trail is the local temple and and the little market near the ferry landing.
